DIY: Re-Organize Your Scarves on a Dime

Like many of you, I was snowed in last week here in Atlanta.  After watching the news so many times, creating recipes from scratch, and Netflixing my computer to death, I decided I had too much crap in my closet!  I started with cleaning out all those excess purses and bags I was never going to wear again!  Bagged those babies up and took them to the local donation bin.

I started looking around even more, and realized that the scarf catastrophe I had going on on the door of my closet needed "CHECKING BOO"!  As most of you know, I am the queen of crafting and creating!  So decided to put a few more holes in the walls of my house, but what could I use that would attach to the wall that I could hang my scarves on????????  DING!  A PAPER TOWEL HOLDER!!!  Then the little person on my shoulder said to me, "Fool do you see how many scarves you have?!??!  No paper towel holder will handle all of those! Then you will be upset you put holes in the walls for that?"  Needless to say, my gut feeling was right.  DING!  I came up with this..... (cue the Music..... Justin Timberlake starts singing......HOLY GRAIL!!!!!!!)

Yaaaas Sweet baby Jesus! Yaaasss!  A curtain retention rod! You read it right!  This inexpensive DIY cost me $4.75+ taxes, and 20 minutes or so of my time (5 minutes to hang, and 15 minutes to hang the scarves).

Supplies Needed:
1.) Curtain Retention Rod: $3.75
2.) Shower curtain rings 12pk: $1.00
3.) Power drill

Optional
4.) Stud finder (I just eyeballed it, and said, "Jesus take the Wheel!")

I purchased the Rod from my local FAMILY DOLLAR store, and the shower curtain rings from the local DOLLAR TREE store.

Once you decide on the location in you closet you will hang your rod, the instructions were very simple. Just take out the four screws, and two brackets.  Use your power drill to screw the brackets to the wall, add the rod so that it fits into the bracket, and WAHLA!  You are done installing!

I then took my shower rings and looped one scarf per ring.  I lifted the rod, and slide the ring onto it.  You can loop all your scarves and place on the rings on the rod all at one time if you like, but I did it one by one.  TIP: I twisted each of my scarves for a unified/neat appearance, and to save  you space this way as well!

I love this project! From the price, the installation, to the finished and polished look it has given my walk-in!  If you guys try this out, let me know!  Post your pictures and tag me #ShadesofallureDIY
