" I Have A Dream"... and I'm embarrassed

Hi Loves!

Today marks the 50th Anniversary of the famous "I Have A Dream" speech given by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the March on Washington.

As I drove past the King Center yesterday while out trying to find this new banking center, I saw visitors, the famous Ebenezer Baptist Church, and Mr. and Mrs. Kings tombs.  I realized that I take advantage of this historic and memorable national landmark that sits right in the city where I live.  I work two blocks away from the famous "Auburn Avenue", and never take the time to reflect on all the history that has been made on the street I can so proudly drive down as an alternate route to work, or grabbing something to eat.  My internal self has a "Check yourself moment"... I realized that I only visited the King center for the first time in my life only 2 years ago.  I was born and raised in the state of Georgia, went to the University of West Georgia, and currently attend Georgia state University (which is only 1 block away from Auburn Avenue), and I had only visited this national treasure for the 1st time in my life 2 years ago!  And did I mention, ITS FREE!!  I was so embarrassed!

The point I'm trying to make, is that I share the same birth state, and now city as the famous civil rights leader.  I , and probably many of you, take for granted the history that is just a couple of blocks from me daily.  Remembrance days like today should inspire you to get out, and explore the monuments, or national treasures around you.  History repeats itself, when we are ignorant to its existence.  So I encourage you, to take an hour, get yourself, and/or your family in the car and go see history around you.  Hell, you can even get in the car and drive to the "A" if you want to to enjoy the KING CENTER, and the many historical sites on AUBURN AVE.  Just don't let your schedule, or planned nonsense, keep you and your future generations in the dark about what got you to today.  I know I will be going to the King Center again this Saturday with some friends!
